About Jeffrey Kung
While I was at Zynga, a gangster themed game was in production and they needed volunteer faces for characters. This is a paint-over of my portrait for a low level thug character.
I went to college to get my bachelors degree in psychology and then to graduate school for my PhD in clinical psychology. I completed all of my requirements (courses and internships) except my dissertation. But one question kept nagging me at the back of mind - could I be video game designer instead of a psychologist? During my graduate school years, I was constantly tinkering and building levels for Doom and Doom II, uploading my levels in the 90’s. The answer came to me and it was obvious. I dropped out of my program to pursue my dream career as a level designer!
I’ve made video games now for about 26 years and in that time, I’ve shipped 18 games. 24 years is a pretty good chunk of time to be in one industry and I love it. I love making games, especially when the team is passionate, talented, and driven to make great games.
My career has taken me from making first person shooters to third person action-adventure games at places like Lucasarts and Nihilistic Software to CCP Atlanta and NaturalMotion in London. I’ve made major licensed IP AAA games on consoles and PCs as well as children’s games.
Previous to my current role at Lost Boys Interactive, I was in the mobile games sector for the 9 years. Empires & Allies, Dawn of Titans were a couple of the bigger games I was a part of, Deer Hunter World at EA/Glu Mobile as the Lead 3D Level Designer, and an unreleased casual mobile game based on the Avatar license with Jam City’s Los Angeles studio as their Lead Level Designer.
I have been with Lost Boys Interactive for over a year now back in the AAA market.
Please contact me if you have any questions or comments about the games I’ve made.
Cheers,
Jeff
